When I visited Bahrain in 1978 my friend Dieter Beintrexler, an Austrian banker who was transferred there from Houston, suggested we visit the famous Tree of Life. Dieter had been a tank driver in the Austrian Army and loved to explore with his Land Rover. We drove about – miles across empty desert and finally saw a green mesquite standing all alone. The tree is estimated to be about 400 years old. Many believe that it marks the location of the Garden of Eden.
We thought that the beauty and unique would be an appropriate symbol for the Foundation of International Freedom and created this illustration to reflect these attributes.
